It’s a genuine pleasure to present this rare and beautifully restored Scarborough Sloop, a classic one-off yacht built in 1954 by John L. Lee. Constructed from mahogany on oak, this vessel is a testament to traditional craftsmanship.
Over the past 14 years, the yacht has undergone an extensive restoration, stripped back to bare wood both inside and out. All essential timber work has been completed, and she has been fully re-riveted below the waterline and re-caulked for structural integrity.
Mechanically, the yacht has been thoroughly modernized with the installation of a brand-new Beta 20hp engine, alongside a new stainless steel fuel tank, pipework, sender unit, and exhaust system. The engine has seen fewer than 70 hours of use, with the installation valued at approximately £12,500 in today's market.
Deck fittings are predominantly classic Simpson Lawrence bronze, including a windlass. She also comes with 45 meters of new anchor chain, brand-new stainless steel standing rigging, and bottle screws.
The interior has been tastefully redecorated, featuring polished mahogany woodwork and eggshell-finished paint. A highlight in the forward cabin is the original Baby Blake toilet, accompanied by a service kit and a comprehensive collection of paperwork, including the original blue book and drawings.
Professionally rewired, the yacht features a custom electrical panel fitted with Blue Sea breakers, ensuring modern functionality with classic aesthetics.
Some cosmetic refinements are ongoing, as shown in the photos, providing a wonderful opportunity for the next owner to add their personal touch.
This classic yacht is ideal for an enthusiast looking to enjoy the elegance and performance of a traditional sailing vessel—without the burden of major structural or mechanical work. She’s ready to be sailed and cherished, with only light cosmetic upkeep required.
