Broker's Comments
Here we have one of my favourite Broads cruisers! - the ever popular Broom Skipper. This particular example is just breathtaking (and I really do mean that).
The current owner of the last 8 years has spent around £20k improving this example and it clearly shows. She has a professional two pack bright white sprayed paint coat that looks stunning and in that process every window was removed serviced and fully resealed on refitting so she is nice dry boat.
Her hardwood folding screen was professionally replaced by the same respected boatyard. She has a very good canopy over the cockpit which can be opened up fully and the cockpit windows and sides dropped to allow her to clear all the Broads bridges at the right tides.
Her layout is very clever in that the forward cabin has its own companionway door and next to that there is the other companionway leading to the large heads and shower wet room. The forward cabin has an offset double with plenty of well finished storage and here the soft fittings and trim are all excellent.
The cockpit is bright and practical with split folding doors each side and a raised aft seating bench and canopy staves above. Easy battery access is found within the bench seat, so no need to pull up the floor to access master switches or the batteries and charger.
Under the floor is a BMC 1.5 that starts and runs as it should and this example underwent a full refurbishment in 2010.
This bilge is clean and dry and all items for service are readily at hand. The internal cockpit frame structure has also been replaced as they are a common issue on the type, so that should not be an issue on this fine example.
Heading aft down the companionway you enter the large and comfortable aft cabin with galley running across the whole aft of the boat which is a lovely feature of these cracking little boats.
Her comfortable saloon converts to a good sized double when required and all her upholstery appears to be in very good order as do the original headlining.
This beautiful boat gleams in the sunshine and has her Broads toll paid and has just had a new Boats Safety Certificate inspection so she is good for the next 4 years and expires on 02/04/2029.
With added 240V shore power and immersion heater and diesel warm air heating all fitted this is a very well equipped and comfortable example and must be seen to be fully appreciated.
The current owner has ensured that she has been regularly serviced the last one being November '24 as part of her winterising regime. She also had a new stainless steel rudder in 2019, a new injector pump in 2019 and the diesel heater was fitted in 2024! Lastly she was last antifouled in 2023.
I have to say that we do see a good number of these marvelous little Brooms and this one is very much one of the best I have seen for a fair while. These boats are also a dream to handle and very neutral and I am certain this example will delight her new owner.
