Broker's Comments
Boatshed Essex are pleased to be presenting this attractive Countess 33 Ketch, a spacious family cruiser with a centre cockpit and a good sized aft cabin, with ensuite heads.
The bilge keel provides a boat capable of navigating both inland and offshore waters and the boat has been reported to have a safe and comfortable feel, with the spacious centre cockpit, making it ideal for families and longer distance cruises. Room on deck is equally comfortable, with spacious side decks and foredeck.
The volume of space extends to the traditionally laid out interior, with good headroom, two heads, with one being en-suite to the aft double cabin. The well equipped galley provides plenty of room for preparing meals and the saloon with L-shaped seating and large saloon table, provides plenty of space for relaxing and socialising.
This version looks to have been well maintained over the years, with the lovely interior woodwork and exterior teak decks. When I visited the boat, I was struck by its light and spacious feel due to the number of hatches, windows and the open space below, which also provides comfortable accommodation, with ample headroom.
This boat is an attractive option for a range of uses including the potential for coastal cruising, extended passage making and live-aboard possibilities. This boat appears to be a solid, tidy, spacious boat with an excellent reputation. This boat has also had reviews in Yachting Monthly and Practical Boat Owner.
Owners comments:
"... was designed and built for the long term commodore of the Countess Owner's Association, as the ultimate Countess 33. Receipts are onboard from purchase of bare hull onward. No expense was spared!
She is designed to be easily handled by a couple with a separate fore cabin and head for guests. Her taller ketch rig, with extra ballast to match, allows for a variety of balanced rigs for any weather. She is a comfortable and excellent sea boat that will look after her crew in any weather and she is easily handled and predictable under motor. The deep cockpit and fixed screen keep the wind and spray off.
We bought her for extended cruising from Holland, through the channel to south and west England, Normandy, Channel Islands and Brittany as far as Nantes. After eleven wonderful years the time has now come for someone else to enjoy her".
If you have any queries or would like to organise a personal viewing, then please do contact our Boatshed office and we would be happy to help.
