Broker's Comments
It’s easy to see why this strong, seaworthy, spacious, Contessa 34 hasn’t exchanged ownership much in her lifetime. Built on the same successful hull moulding as the OOD 34, this fast family cruiser with graceful lines has a longer cast iron keel, extra ballast and a skeg hung rudder giving extra stiffness and stability for tackling challenging conditions and making her a good all round passage maker.
Purchased as a ‘boat show model’ at the 1983 London Boat Show, she was proudly sailed home to Plymouth by the first owner. In 2001, she was relocated to Poole by the owners son. In 2006, she was sold and moved back to Plymouth by the current owners. Well looked after and sailed regularly until recently, this vessel has always been wintered ashore annually. Over each winter period, the engine has been serviced, the hull scrubbed & anti fouled and the mast has been stepped for regular rigging checks.
Other recent maintenance has included the renewal of the sail drive seal, the fitting of a new folding prop and the removal and overhaul of the engine (winter 2016/2017) amongst others.
Practical and well thought out, the accommodation includes three double cabins, good head room, additional berths in the saloon when required, a generous sized forward facing Nav station and a separate heads compartment for privacy.
With an extensive sail wardrobe and professionally finished Awlgrip topsides, this is an excellent opportunity to acquire a well maintained, fast, strong seaworthy cruiser / racer.
