Not a boat one sees every day – in fact I had never seen one until I was asked to market this very interesting and unusual boat. Then, the next day, I saw another one on a mooring outside Port Solent. Well, you know what they say about London buses...
Sometimes you have to take a step back and just look, and what you see in this boat is really practical, pragmatic design. The saloon windows pre-date the “deck saloon” concept by thirty years, yet here you have it, a living space which allows you to see what is going on outside. You can even helm from “indoors” if the fancy takes you (or the weather drops you a hint).
The centre cockpit and unusual mast position allow you to control the whole shooting match from safely inside the combings. This sort of rig is very successful on catamarans, so there is no reason it shouldn’t work on this boat.
