Alasdair McQuire from Leeds and Andy Strudwick from Ceredigion have clinched the next two spots on the 2020 ilovesailing calendar as the competition reaches the half way point.

Each month sailing enthusiasts and amateur and professional photographers share their favourite sailing photos in the hope of claiming a spot on the calendar. Two winners are picked each month between March and July to represent a different month on the 2020 calendar, with the final two spots being selected in August from all the other entries made between March and July.

The first of the two May winners comes from Alasdair and is entitled ‘Dive, Dive, Dive.’ Alasdair commented: “Whilst I am a regular photographer it’s my first competition entry so I am amazed and delighted to have won. Thank you, this is spurring me on to take many more photos.

“This particular shot was taken at West Riding Sailing Club, I was photographing rather than sailing this day, this Finn was heading towards me when a saw a large gust heading towards him. I ran towards the edge of the bank with my camera, just in time to line up and take the shot. Fortunately it worked.”

While the second May winner comes from Andy entitled ‘Sunset Sail with Tresaith Mariners’.  Commenting on his winning shot which was taken at Tresaith Beach on the West Wales coast in Cardigan Bay, Andy said: “I am totally over the moon to win a place in the calendar with my photo. It was a wonderful night to be out Safety boating for the Tresaith Mariners when I captured this shot of our amazing Welsh coastline. This was taken during our Wednesday evening training, teaching local youngsters to sail.”
