A well presented and very tidy yacht that has just relaunched (April 2016) after an extensive refit. A programme of annual maintenance and upgrades has kept her in very good shape during the last ten years of the current ownership. The March 2016 hull survey shows the hull to have the moisture levels of a more recent boat, Coppercoat applied in 2013 is in good order The engine overhaul, new prop and copper coat should give trouble free sailing for years to come. This Kattegat 26, is the first hull of a John Leather design along the lines of Colin Archer and built by the Waterside Boatyard in Essex famous for many John Leather designed boats. She is strongly built with heavy scantlings and a professional layup. The charming owner tells me its a tough gaff cutter has proved her pedigree with trips as far north as Norway and south to Morocco, lying hove to for 8 hrs in aF8 off the Norwegian coast, she rose easily to the short breaking seas. Crossing Biscay, Falmouth - Vigo, she carried stores and fuel for the 6 day trip with room to spare. The well designed hull form and sail plan gives 5.5 knots. A strong predictable sailors boat she turns heads wherever she goes.
