Broker's Comments
A classic Laurent Giles L-Class, built in 1937. L stands for Lymington, in case you were wondering. A lovely little boat, this little lady was from the yard of E F Elkins in Christchurch, the principal builder of the class in the 30's.
The owner has written about the L class; "There is nothing pretentious about the L-Class - they are sturdy and well built and the designer developed a set of lines which were elegant and straightforward to build. That the original fleet is almost intact today says much for Jack Laurent-Giles, as well as for the many owners who have cherished their boats over six decades".
Although her accommodation is pretty basic, the boat has been well maintained and the owner has been faithful to the era; and even the purists will admit that she still has that classic feel,
