Broker's Comments
This is an excellent opportunity to get your hands on one of these rare but well loved MacWester Pelagians at a very fair price.
These sturdy and well made yachts are renowned for their great sea-keeping qualities under power or sail. The twin 38hp BMC engines provide plenty of power for motoring and the ketch rig provides plenty of easy to handle sail area for good passage making. For added flexibility, this example comes complete with a lifting keel, wheel steering and a well-protected cockpit.
The present owners, who’ve sailed her extensively around the West Coast and Bristol Channel for the last 20 years have now, due to other commitments, decided to sell her. Over the last couple of years she hasn’t been used as much as they would have liked and, as such, a little TLC is required to get her back to her former glory including some attention to the head-linings. This said, I believe any work needed is mainly cosmetic and you’d definitely be getting a lot of quality boat for your money.
The sails on this vessel have only had light usage since they were last renewed and are still nice & crisp in their sail bags. The engines have been winterised and serviced every season for the last 20 years and her hull has been cleaned, polished and anti fouled annually too.
Solid twin engines, good sail plan and lifting keel, a great boat.
