Broker's Comments
Anyone with an interest in yachting in the mid 1980's may well remember 'Howard's Way' - that riveting TV soap, a tale of glamorous yachting folk, grumpy Jack Rolfe of the Mermaid Yard, and some devious dodgy dealings and fashionable ladies!
If you do remember all that, then you'll surely know all about the revolutionary wing keeled Spring 25 which was heavily featured (alongside the ULDB, but that's another story!) and our example which we have just listed could possibly be as good as it gets. "Why so" you may ask? Well, this is one of the last of 15 to be built by the highly respected Northshore Yachts Ltd. These were built to a much higher spec than the Jaguar built examples which, at approximately half the price, are far more numerous. Northshore Yachts are said to be stronger, better appointed below decks and have superior deck gear and spars. Also, since she was one of the very last to be built, she is 2-3 years younger than most MG Springs.
These yachts are a great family boat with sleeping accommodation for six, although that might be a bit of a crush if all are adult sized. She has an aft double cabin which wouldn't disgrace a thirty footer and her saloon berths and fore peak are open plan. All woodwork and upholstery is in very good order. Our example has been upgraded with a recon 18 hp motor in 2001 and all nav instruments installed in 2011. She has crisp sails, recent rigging both standing and running and many new items of equipment too numerous to mention here; although we have box files and paperwork rarely seen before for a yacht of any size which prospective buyers may peruse at any time in our office. Suffice to say her condition and maintenance are impeccable so if you are looking for what might be the best Spring 25 available you really need to see this one - she's a beauty!
