Broker's Comments
The Peter Duck designed by Laurent Giles originally for Arthur Ransome is one of the classic yachts that most of us have heard of and possibly dreamt of owning. Porter and Haylett of Wroham built 38 in total.
This one is very well equipped and has been refurbished and also very well maintained. In 2005 she was converted to Cutter Rig which improved performance and also handling - see more details in the specification above.
In 1998 a lot of work was done to the decks and some to the hull. A recent survey in March 2016 found her to be in very good order.
Her more recent owners bought this boat to use in a television series coming out on Channel 4 in the near future called Electric Dreams. So they needed a good order yacht safe to sail and use but wanted it to look old for the series. So they gave her a cosmetic make over to do this and it worked! At present she has a removable coat of greyish water-based wash on her coachroof (it scrubs off) and a PVA type coating in place on the stained woodwork to make that look old too - again it will rub off. So please don’t be fooled by the photos this is a lovely yacht .
