Broker's Comments
Bought as a part of a retirement plan for some serious ocean travelling, this classic go anywhere cruising yacht is now up for sale.
Designed by Alan Pape, with an aim of seaworthiness, passage making and long distance cruising in mind, he took ideas from Colin Archers wooden lifeboat designs, which have been said to be amongst the most seaworthy small boats ever built and developed them using modern ideas and materials. This produced strong, elegant cruising yachts that not only maintained their seakeeping abilities but were also substantially faster.
With a heavily laid up GRP double ended hull, epoxy coated ply decks and stern post hung rudder, most of the Saltrams were custom built in Plymouth, Devon to Lloyds specification.
This example, which appears to be in very good condition, is cutter rigged, has traditional wooden cockpit combings and a beautifully finished wooden interior, combining tradition and quality.
A practical, go anywhere, cruising yacht that would make a great boat for an adventurous family or cruising couple.
