A chance to own a piece of British sailing and race history.
This is the first and original UFO that was commissioned by Richard Matthews, the Founder of Oyster Marine as a 1 off prototype and raced by Richard extensively in the early 1970’s and laid the foundations of the huge success of Oyster Marine. Built to an exacting standard by Oyster Marine in 1973 with huge racing success and testament to the build quality of the vessel, built using the same lay-up as the Alan Gurney Great Britain II racing boat of Whitbread around the World racing fame. She has twice crossed the Atlantic and has numerous race victories to her name including winning the prestigious Burnham Cup on two separate occasions (30 Years apart 1974, 2004). In addition to winning the RYS De Mass Cup during Cowes Week in 1974.
In the 2004, UFO underwent a complete refurbishment ahead of the 2004 Burnham Cup, for which the boat (and crew) went on to win a 2nd and two 1st places, taking the Commodores Cup on the final day of the regatta, 30 years after their last racing success at the same event. Additional information on her provenance, refurbishment and history, in addition to the 2018 are survey available on request.
She is in fantastic condition for a boat of her age, with a very solid build quality and has been well maintained and treasured by her current owners, for the past 13 years.
