Broker's Comments
Westerly Yachts (Westerly Marine Construction) require no introduction from me! Once the biggest UK boatbuilder, they remained in production until early 2000's and are responsible for over 70 designs.
The Westerly Konsort 29 was among their most popular, 704 boats were built between 1979 and 1991. I'd bet the majority of them are still sailing somewhere! They remain modern looking, well constructed and with a fin keel and slab reefing (as this one has), they perform respectably well. A cruising chute with a telescopic pole and purpose-made bowsprit just add to the fun; it's all light enough to handle short handed with lines leading into the cockpit and lots of winches.
Below, in typical Westerly style the layout is traditional but versatile. I enjoy photographing them, the clever ways of making everything at least dual purpose mean these boats really can work for everyone.
This is one of the later Konsorts - she feels dry and fresh and her timber below looks great. I think this is a really nice example of one of the best Westerly designs. She's just back in the water (Jan 2024) and viewing will be a pleasure.
